Choose the city of Lulea is due to weather conditions.

Facebook announced on Thursday (27) that will build its third center servers and the first in Europe in Lulea in northern Sweden. The center will have three server rooms, and will benefit about 800 million social network users in Europe explained during the presentation in Lulea, Tom Furlong, responsible for new installations of Facebook.

The investment will cost between 329 million and 549 million euros, of which the Swedish government will provide about 11 million euros, said the Swedish Minister of Industry, Annie Loof. The choice of Lulea is mainly due to climatic conditions of the town as it is the coldest region of Sweden and the servers need to be at low temperatures, said Furlong. The construction of the center will begin immediately. With him, it is expected that the first server room will be ready within a year and that the entire project is completed in 2014.
